How to work lower abs properly is a question often asked by beginners. Lower abdominal muscles are small and very difficult to exercise. Choose exercises that specifically target the lower abdominal region. Trainers usually recommend performing leg raises. Lay flat on the ground face up with your hands at your sides. Slowly lift your heels two to five inches off of the ground and pause. You should feel your lower abdominal muscles become tense. Hold yourself in this position for as long as possible. Lower your feet and take a quick ten second break. Repeat this exercise as many times as possible. Make sure that when you perform any lower abdominal exercise that you squeeze your stomach muscles throughout the entire workout. This will greatly improve your results. Also, do not forget to drink a whey protein shake immediately after your workout. After an intense abdominal workout your muscles will need the protein to heal and rebuild.
